The Old Sheriff's House Foundation announced for it's 2013 appeal the complete historic preservation of the second floor bedrooms and bathroom to their original 1909 condition. We feel a historically preserved "living quarters" will enhance the tour experience, and enable the community to rent the house for period themed weddings or other special events. We think the house can be viewed as a "Stand Alone" project that when completed would benefit the community tremendously.
The images below are of the upstairs bedrooms in their current conditions. They are very similar to what the rest of the house looked like before we started to preserve it. We have estimated that in order to complete this job we will need some minor structural work, a paint analysis, electrical work which includes custom fabricated light fixtures. We will need lath and plaster work and the wood floors refinished. We will also need to run the heating to the second floor.
The foundation has been able to stretch a dollar for many years relying greatly on donated services and volunteers to complete projects. We project that in order to complete the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom it will cost $31,400 which is extremely cost effective.
We appeal to your sense of community and contribute to this project to help historically preserve one of the most important buildings in Crown Point's history.
