What's Going on ?
2015 was another successful year for the Sheriff’s House Foundation with many planned projects completed by the
end of the busy year. 2016 promises more ongoing activities with projects continuing restoration of the Old Sheriff’s House and Jail. Included are updates of the activity of the past year:
• The Foundation reconstructed the West side stone steps to include new disabled accessibility, and railings
on the Main Street entrance.
• A new water main has been put in place updating the old county infrastructure system. To insure adequate
environmental conditions for the system, the contribution of a forced air furnace has been installed in the
former jail basement.
• The window renovation project in the 1909 third floor Southwest section has been completed. All windows
have been glazed & installed, and closure hardware systems rehabilitated. This aids the weatherproofing
and insulation of this internet equipment area of the building.
• Grants from current years have enabled floor repair on the second floor of the residence. This enables
these rooms to proceed toward complete restoration in preparation for use of a prospective tenant,
research and archive occupancy.
• Ornamental lighting in the former residence first floor has been installed. Continued supplemental electric
work throughout the building has proceeded during the year.
We invite your participation in the project’s work and restoration, and renewal of membership in the Foundation in
the years ahead.
